November and December is Chex Mix season in our house. And we don’t settle for that dried-out, oversalted store-bought stuff. We prefer the ultimate vintage snack, and we dug up the original 1952 Chex mix recipe (many thanks to The Spruce Eats). The purists say margarine is the way to go, though we prefer butter.

New York Strip Roast

Thinking of cooking a roast for the holidays? Look no further than the New York strip roast. This has been a relatively new Christmas Eve tradition in our house because our local grocery store has reliably run a big sale on roasts leading up to Christmas. We keep things simple and follow the Certified Angus Beef recipe and pair it with a blue cheese butter or a Béarnaise sauce.
